Looks pretty goosed. Maybe its still salvageable? If a chunk has come off the piston it may have destroyed the rings; causing it to be so slack. The liner may not be that bad.

I had a spare piston until about a month ago, I could have given it you. Too late now though I sprayed it gold and I use it as a coaster

I got one from Jap4x4 parts including rod for around £40.

No, been gathering all the paperwork I can throw at them so I get a decent pay out. I am hoping to have everything send off by next week.

lol a coaster! nice!! door stop I would imagine more likely!!

so pulled the piston, its fried, inside of the liner isn't so great either, shells on the bottom of the piston are good and the only slack is normal lateral moment on the gudgeon pin. still not sure what caused it though, oil starvation maybe or still that big end but it don't feel slack and there's no real rubbish in the oil pan except a couple or piston piston bits.

That's a busy couple of days...
Since I will have to do it, was the sump easy to get off?

The bolts come off easy enough if thats what you mean? or are you refering to access?

Well I took the engine out. More work than I first envisaged I will be honest. Or you could drop the front suspension.

my bearings are stamped th 3c35e on the mains and 3c41d on the bigs company called taiho quite common, but the stamps don't bring up anything up with taiho and the companies im calling have a part number m042a1 for an ln130 surf could it say m042a1 on the box and be stamped 3c35e on the bearing? im confused!!!
