Its possible, I will try the relays first and see where I'm at then. The fact that me turning the ignition on and off 4 times makes it start well, not lumpy and without clouds of smoke, makes me assume everything else works ok.
    If I like it, Bushwhacker doesn't. :-)

exactly, it sounds like the relays are working fine. you could test it by the volt drop across the relay while the glows are on. or check voltage coming out with glows disconnected.

Tested my glow plugs cold this morning just for comparason. It was about 10DegC. Eight seconds at around 10.7 volts, then around another 10 seconds at about 7.5 volts. On engine start, it was back up over 10 volts for a couple of minutes, then drops to no voltage.

Is the fuel primer still hard?

        Nev.

I can see your point there, something is making them cut out after a couple of seconds. I've ordered some relays on a return if its not the problem so ill try changing them and go from there.

              Fuel primer is still hard.

Here's a video clip of the truck starting when I have turned the ignition on and off 4 times. quite a difference.

I have ordered a service kit from rough trax so will see if it helps. Cheers

Tell you what, I might end up wearing my ignition barrel out, but its one hell of a cheap way to solve the problem!

cheap fix would be to normalise the glows. i just have a button on the dash wired up to the relay.

Do you have a diagram or description if how? The thought crossed my mind, is it a switch you need to hold down? Or a normal on off that you need to remember to switch off after a minute?

Replace the ECU Coolant Temperature Sensor.

                            Nev.

                              Hi Nev,

Can you tell me if this is the right part?

Out of curiosity, is it the sensor hidden a bit on the left of this pic, towards the centre?

Might have helped if I'd rotated that first! ...take 2...
