    Ok, to anyone up for comment, you guys are normally just awesome, about 2 weeks ago I over oiled my car, as a result I had to have the injectors reconditioned. When the mechanic returned it to me the engine still had a rough idle and white smoke made by the exhuast. As of now the idle has slightly improved but I am still getting white smoke. The mechanic suggested to me at the time it would be due to a faulty diesel pump on the car. Performance wise I will explain how the car performs.

    Hard on cold starts a bit of rumble but rev it up and its fine just producing white smoke, power is not as big of an issue but if i hit the paddle a little to hard i get lots of white smoke during acceleration. at speeds I am fine, not really any smoke at all, no shaking, i would say once driving its perfect.

    But lets say when I am at the lights I get a rough idle again and producing white smoke again. Idling would be the major problem.

    I have tried to determine the problem myself working currently on the air intakes, I have found oil build up in the air intake hose running to what I believe to be the turbo.

      those compressor wheel tips look like they have seen better days.

      i would fit a boost/vac gauge on where the boost sensor is (ie directly to intake manifold). if your reading vacuum at idle then you have a problem with intake butterfly, turbo or an intake blockage. low effective compression will cause white smoke.

      otherwise could well be injection pump. sometimes its worn enough that it struggles to pop the new higher pressure injectors resulting in retarded timing.

      or there is fuel restriction or air being sucked in. both result in low fuel pressure in the pump which retards the timing which makes the white smoke.

        intake butterfly

        One of my thoughts was something to do with airflow, except I'm not sure exactly where the intake butterfly is to look at it, sorry im still fairly new to this, and how to access it

          follow the intake pipe from the turbo to the intake manifold. you will see throttle cable connecting.
          someone may have a good pic of it.

          the other easy thing is to pull the intake pipe off and start it with turbo unhooked. that may rule out turbo being a restriction.

          i forgot about the other cause of white smoke, oil leaking out the turbo.
          undo the exhaust turbo flange and see if its wet with oil.

          also check breather not blocked. sometimes they get clogged in the baffles in the rocker cover.

            thanks for the advice, will give it a shot tomorrow, ordered a boost gauge to see how it responds and will take it from there

              A vacuum at idle is quite normal for a 2L-TE which has had no mods to the EGR or butterfly.

                I would suggest pulling the diagnostic codes. See if you get anything related to pump timing. White smoke can be related to this.
                Non intercooled nothing.

                  i keep forgetting they have that silly egr setup. disable the small butterfly and the vacuum should disappear.
                  or simply a bit of part throttle it should go to.

                    Ok ran the diagnostic, got a single flash, so guessing fualt code 1 which is normal so now to work from there

                      Following the intake manifold, asside from finding a crack in one of the rubber hoses, found a bit of an oil trail leading into it
