Somethings falling off me gearbox..!!

Anybody had this..started off as a bit of a rattle somewhere down the back of the engine somewhere, now its changed to a dirty great BIG rattling. Sound like its pinpointed to the gearbox/ bellhousing area. The only way I can descibe is.. my missus puts it best.."like youve left a load of nuts and bolts in your overalls and they're stuck in the washing machine drum.."
And it aint getting any better...!
