  • Can anyone help with a part number please?

Hi there, I'm having a little trouble ordering a new sensor for my Surf. the old one's broken off- please see the photo below. I believe it's the fan sensor, for the small electric one on the rad.

I've been to the local Toyota dealer and got a diagram from them which just doesn't match up, which is why I'm having this bother!

This also looks like it might be a bugger to replace, so any advice on that also gratefully received.

    Many thanks for any help,

    Jon

Look half way down, it will be one of those, can't remember which, depends on the connector it had.
well, that was a bad idea!

Prices for those fan switches are outrageous. Think I have said that before. Just find a normally closed ground switch with a range of 92-97 even with just a spade type terminal and use that. Just replace the plug on the wiring with a spade type.

Here's a Tridon one which we all use down here. TFS115

Thanks to you both, that's really helpful. I was just about to post about the price when I saw your post Nev - many thanks indeed.

        Cheers

        Jon

EDIT - Sorry, bit slow to catch on, any recommendations where I can get a reasonably priced replacement in the UK anyone?

I've already searched Ebay, couldn't find it, so that would be great, thanks.

Jon if you have no joy from Shokenore's sensibly priced link I have a brand new one http://www.roughtrax4x4.com/?doc=16&cid=149&vid=948 that I bought off Roughtrax last year and didn't need in the end.

They wouldn't take it back because it was over 30 days from when I bought it to when I contacted them again. So it is still in bubble wrap and all yours for £30 if you want it.

Thanks David, I may well take you up on your offer. Can you tell me what the part number is in full - is it 89428, then some more numbers?

                Many thanks

                  Toyota and Intermotor part numbers

OK, just in case anyone else stumbles over this thread, the Toyota part number appears to be 89428-20100 for the Auto 2.4TD. I've gone for an Intermotor part 50380 from Ebay at £10 plus postage, hope it works ok.

Many thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated.

                    Sorry for the delay.

Kids had fubarred the pc and no way I could find the link from my ipoodle.

                    IIRC
I tried the 50380 switch but the settings are too low and the fans would be on nearly all the time.

Ah, unfortunately I'd already pulled the trigger on the purchase of the 50380 one.

Thanks anyway, surely the 50380 one has the right temperature points - 92C and 97C? I saw another thread here which seemed to indicate they would be ok?

It will be fine. Has same temperature range as the Tridon we all use down here

                          Nev is right.
I got confused with a thermo switch that I had tried that had the lower rating and not the 50380 version, however the link I posted is a lot cheaper

I have managed to break mine whilst changing the hose round to the right.

Is the one for £6 on ebay in the link above compatible with 92 Surf 2.4 TD LN130?

                              http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Mazda-...item1e6c22cba2

                              Gives you the 97-92 range.

                              and

                              http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-RADIAT...#ht_500wt_1314

                              gives you 98-93 range.

I found my ebay purchases and found that when mine had failed I tried one with a lower temperature rating which was rubbish it kept the fan on nearly all the time, then with a little further digging I found my receipt for the 50380 one, this one works fine and is a hell of a lot cheaper than the roughtrax version.

You will just have to change your connection from the plug which is on there now to a female spade connection.
