  • Engine question

Was just wondering if there are any other Toyota's that use the same engine as the Surf, does the Previa have the same 2.4 Turbo diesel?

I'm thinking that as I need a replacement engine, there might be something else out there that would give me more scope of finding something usable

hilux, hiace, dyna (small truck also called toyo and a few other names)
also the crown car and i think theres one or two other cars use the L series.
i think its the crown that came out with a high performance version of the 2lte.

previa and other people movers use a different series. c series i think.

My engine has died due to cavitation (think thats the right word), the bottom of the head looks like the surface of the moon. There's also some damage to the pistons. Looks like the usual head problems have been masked by the use of something like K-seal in the past, then it all went pear shaped after I bought it, now I need a new engine, ho hum.

          What about rebuilding it yourself?

ooh, I have no idea whether skimming will sort it or not, perhaps someone else can tell if it would be possible that skimming would solve it

That block looks beyond repair to me.
