  • can i weld my flywheel ????? dual mass issue

    hi everyone ! recently purchased a surf 2.4 manual which im very pleased with but the clutch is slipping , which is something i will sort , people say the flywheels break up ??? and mine makes a rattling noise every so often coming from transmission area ! could this be the flywheel on the way out ?

    someone also mentioned too me about welding the flywheel ?? making it into a solid flywheel ??

    whats peoples thoughts on this ????

      I wouldn't, you'd never get it balenced. Solid flywheels make the gearbox rattle enough as it is, let alone a bodged up dual mass one.

        My dad had a 2.4 years ago. He had that welded up. didn't have any problems with it but only had it 6 months after.

        I was still a kid and loved it. I vowed I would have one myself one day...

          thats what i thought , the balancing may be an issue ! very mixed views on this ! does nayone have a dual mass flywheel for sale ???

            I know someone who welded up there dual mass on a merc sprinter is ok but get a little vibration on initial take up of drive.

              I'm with Tony, I wouldn't do it either. A new Solid flywheel isn't that expensive.

                Surely a bit of dynamic balancing on a welded up one doesn't cost as much as a new flywheel?

                  if i do weld it up is there anything too remove ?? or just stitch the outside job done ????
