  • Anyone have rear airbag suspension?

Looking into installing airbags in my surf. The rear end sits low if I put any significant load on it. I also just bought a motorcycle that weighs around 480 pounds and a motorcycle carrier that plugs into my hitch. When I load the bike up its sits low enough to raise my front end. Im hoping airbags will be thr answer to the drop. I live in Canada so I'm hoping I can just buy airbags to fit a 92 4runner and all is good? Anyone know if this is the case?

I plan to replace my rear shocks and springs while I'm under there as well.

Yes there was a member who had them fitted, but I can't remember who (it was a while ago now).

Hopefully if TonyN pops in he'll remember, cause I seem to think he saw them in the flesh.

I have airgbags fitted to supplement the springs on Lexurf V

They were fitted by the previous owner but he has given me the paperwork for them. I'll dig it out tomorrow and post details up for you

Thanks for the links Budweiser. Would these ones be sufficient?

              http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1990-1995-Toy...#ht_1053wt_952

They're only in the states so they shouldn't take long to be shipped to me.

They are the same as the ones I fitted to Andy Lala's truck.

They are very good, and work well, but personally I'd spring for the extra money and get compressor and in cab gauges and switches for ease of adjusting to suit what you're towing/hauling/offroading

This type you need to fit a weatherproof box somewhere out the way for the valves but still accessible to pump up the bags with an airline. If you always carry the same amount of stuff/junk in back of truck this isn't such an issue.

I don't plan to use the airbags often, just to haul my motorcycle every couple months so I'm fine with a less than convenient way of filling. And it looks like I have to do quite a bit of preventative maintenance at the moment. My surf heated up going up a mountain in British Columbia yesterday so I'm going to add a cold air intake and anything else I can think of to effectively cool my engine. I'm also going to get a new larger exhaust system to replace the stock one since my average speed is about 115km/h to 120km/h.

My truck has airbags, fitted by the previous owner. Some info here. The air valve has been fitted inside the fuel cap compartment.

Not a great pic, but it should do. The carrier is rated for 500lbs and my bike is about 480. I've seen ones that go up to 600lbs though.

thanks, that's what im looking for!

on my to do list is the air bags but with the ARB air compressor fitted on the front, got space due i had removed the air con system, so i can pump my tyres as well if i needed to.

That carrier is brilliant, been looking for something like that for ages but could only find lower-rated ones over here. Good to see higher-rated ones exist; have you got the make of it?

                            Cheers,
