On your 2.4's what do you guys roughly get to the gallon??
let me think, yes ! I get miles. The more gallons I put in, the more miles I get

Strangely enough I get more kilometers than miles out of mine. I'm guessing it's because it was an import. I suppose the 4runner would be better in miles than km

Incidentally mine's 3.0 and does approx 18mpg but, with the warm weather and having been using the air con, it's more like 3mpg but I'd rather be cold and skint than have money in the bank and my own personal sauna on wheels

There is an easy way of working out running costs on a Surf. Take the number of litres it takes to fill it up. Add the number of miles or kilometers (it doesn't matter which surprisingly) taken on an average daily journey. Times that figure by 7.
              Then divide by zero.
              Hey presto.

got 23mpg with 265/70r15 all terrains, get 21mpg with 31x10.50r15 mud terrains.
well, that was a bad idea!

I have just filled up my 2.4 with diesel and and towing a caravan (Swift Charisma 545) full of holiday crap I went to Ellerton Lake and Back (I drove a maximum of 50 mph cos I had the van on the back and I had a 20 mph tail wind going and coming) we stayed for 9 nights and we had a party every night.

I used a quater of a tank'ish (not allowing for parallax error when reading the gauge) for the 80.1 miles round trip so thats 65 lts x 0.25 (quater of tank capacity) = 16.25 lts used or 16.25 lts/4.546 (to turn it into gallons) = 3.5745 gallons

So 80.1 miles/3.5745 gallons = 22.40872849 miles to the gallon(wind assisted so may not be an offical record attempt)

However taking into account the fact that I drank an average of 10 cans (440 ml) of Carling Black Label every day I used 10 cans x 440 ml x 9 days = 39600 ml of alcohol consumed

so thats 39600 ml /1000 (to turn it into lts) = 39.6 lts

39.6 lts /4.546 (to turn it into gallons) = 8.7 gallons

I walked round the lake twice and had to go and empty the caravan toilet a lot (read last bit about the beer) and I did go along to the party tent every night so I must have covered at least 17.856 miles

                    so 17.856 miles/ 8.7 gallons = 2.0524 miles to the gallon

So the moral of the story is my Surf does 22.4 miles to the gallon and I do 2 miles to the gallon (makes my Surf seem frugal when you think about it)
