  • How much for a new head gasket?

Hi all i think im need my head doing on my 2.4td surf, Iv had a new rad & rad cap , water pump & thermostat fitted but its still getting air in the system & the heaters blow cold now & then.

1st I was just about to sell this before I got this problem but i don't want to rob anyone one.

2nd how much would it be worth as it is now has it is?

    Thanks in advance

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but its rarely just the gasket, unless someones botched fitting a new head.

It's probably the head cracked if you've had overheating issues and blown a rad, I'd get a garage to test the coolant for exhaust gasses and open your wallet wide.

      Thanks Tony

Iv had the Jeep for 7 years now & im the only UK owner so its never had the head done over here, so how wide do you think I would need to open my wallet? or do you think im better off selling it has it is, stating its problem.

If I was keeping it I wouldn't think twice about putting money into it cos its still a good motor, but I just don't use it any more.

Is there anyone up north you could recommend to fix it?

      Cheers

Ah, we seem to be at cross purposes here. If it were a 2.4 Surf, the head is probably gone, you'd be looking at £800-£1,000 to have it replaced. However, if it's a Jeep, it may only be a gasket, I certainly have no direct experience with them.

Don't do that here. It offends some.
