A new Surfer with a choice. Have a 2.4 and 3.0 available and like both. Have been told that the 3.0 is both more economical and a bit quicker. Is this so?
Also all the experienced Surfers out there, are there any real technical pros/cons to the two engines/vehicles? Thanks All!
Yes! It's still in the garage. M1ROD

If its a straight choice between 2.4 & 3.0, then go for the 3.0.
It won't neccessarily be more economical as so many other variable can come into play, but you can reasonably assume that both will return virtually identical mpg.
Other than that the 3.0 would so far appear to be the more robust choice, and with a nice bit of extra grunt too.

I have a 2.4, and if I can afford to upgrade in the future, I'd like a 1994/95 3.0 SSR-G gen2. That bit of extra power has to be more valuable, and you wouldn't have the paranoia of the potential head problem (my paranoia is not prevalent in my everyday consciousness, just when I browse the UK & Ozzy Surf forums - I do glance at my temp guage every half a mile or so... ).

If I could have afforded the extra road tax & insurance for the 3.0, I would have gone for that. I was always going to be going for the 2.4, and that's the one I did all my research on, so I don't know as much about the 3.0. Keep looking around here - you'll find everything you need to know...
