I used to have smoking problems with the truck but those days are thankfully gone. This week, however, it was time to take my VW Passat for its MOT and was dismayed that it failed the emissions test with a score of 6.9. I put a bottle of Forte's diesel cleaner in the tank and did about 20 miles on the motorway in third gear using 4000 to 4500 r.p.m.
Went for a re-test and the first reading was 0.9, then 0.7 and finally 0.5.
I know that a lot of imports smoke after being sitting on the docks etc. but this seems like a pretty effective cure.

constantly, tried sticking the chewing gum on it, no luck, but 6 weeks of patches on the bumper did the trick
