  • Clanking Noise.Quite Sure it's CV's but not sure what parts needed

    1989 Hilux Surf SSR Limited. 2LT 4wd

So recently noticed a clanking noise upfront on my truck whenever i hit a bump. Went and did an alignment yesterday and moved things around and noticed when i grab a hold of my cvs i can clank them around up down and side to side. Seem way too loose so i'm assuming they are shot. Now are the cvs shot or are there bearings in there that are shot? PS. WHeel bearing seemed solid as no play.

Need some help diagnosing this so i can order the parts and fix it.

    Thanks

    Tyler

It could be the bronze bushes.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

There's a write-up somewhere on here explaining how to diagnose bronze bush faults. I guess a quick way would be to grab the outer end of the outer CV joint and waggle it. If it waggles a tiny bit, they're OK, if it waggles a lot, they're gubbed.

Changed mine on drivers side recently.

I had a rattle (like keys) when going over a cobbled surface, the old ones had no sign of wear to the open eye but the noise has gone.
