i think your engine is the old 2l which has rockers to open valves instead of buckets and shims is this what you have?

if it is the camshaft timing mark is a dot or line on the camshaft pulley and it lines up level with top of the head(if you look at camshaft pulley as if it was the face of a clock the dot or line should be at 3 o clock.)hope this makes sense to you.

on the crankshaft pulley there should be a mark on both the inner and outer pulley
outer pulley has a notch out of the pulley and it lines up with a pointer which is attached to the oil and injector pump housing(notch should be at 1 o clock)
inner pulley which the timing belt runs on has a notch on the lip nearest the front crankshaft seal and it lines up with a small protrusion on the oil pump housing(should be slightly after 12 o clock.

the injector pump pulley has a dot on it and lines up with a dot on the oil pump and injector pump housing(i think its at 12 o clock, sorry but its ages since i worked on one of these engines)

i havent got a picture of timing marks right now but if you can tell me if this is the right engine im talking about ill post one up for you

Have a look on Ebay and you may get a manual for a few dollars or buy one from any auto shop.

Yep the Max Ellery one is good for the early non turbo motor with full build spec, timing marks etc.

            Cheers
