I would have thought a uk pickup truck block would be the same?????? just check it has the same mounts for aircon and any other extras. Have you tried GT dismantlers at Benfleet just off the A13 at Five bells roundabout.
I know they broke a surf a while ago so may still have the engine.
If it aint broke...........give it some more abuse!!!!!!!!
I gave it some abuse.................and it broke!!!!!!!

Don't know much about it, but know that turbo engines run at lower compression than non turbo. There is a place in Birmingham called parts are us who sell surf short motors for £300 cash, 0121 459 0077

        Short engine

I would advise you to be very wary about fitting a truck engine,as I bought what was supposed to be a direct replacement engine for my 2.4 tdi Surf, from Parts R Us, and I believe that they sent me a truck engine out of a Hi-ace or something. There are a few differences, the main one being the is no hole in the engine block to place the knock sensor. My engine management light came on and I suspect it is linked to the fact that the knock sensor is now fitted with a makeshift bracket. I am now waiting for a garage to try and reset the management system with teir computer.
The engine also seems to be noisier than the last one, but this is something I can live with. Best of luck.

I never actually brought an engine and chose to rebuild my original, as you really have no idea what abuse a second hand motor has had, took a bit longer but should get plenty of miles out of it now.
