  • Back box..................

    Hi all.
I'm thinking about removing the rear silencer. Has anyone done this and does it improve or slow performance?
I've read on here that a lot of you moddify the tail pipe to exit more to the side to stop the fumes getting in. I plan on doing the same but replacing the box with a straight pipe.
    Cheers all..................muncher

It depends if your's is like mine, i.e. 2 silencers, one in front of the rear axle, one behind it. If so, the rear one can be removed and replaced with a pipe as it is only a resonator box, you will probably get slightly better performance as you will see a slight reduction in back pressure. Early 2.4s dodn't have them, only the later ones did.

    Cheers

Dual exhausts !!!! Mmmmmm nice, just like the older Jags.
I'm looking forward to seeing the pics
Do you feel that the performance has improved??

I've got a box before and after the rear axle so when i get a spare mo i will be replacing the back box with a straight pipe. I know someone who works for powerflow in Taunton might have a word. The twin pipe sounds good.

If you are getting a custom exhaust made up, go the whole hog and get a 2.5 inch one made. And of you have the money get the front pipe made of 3 inch from the turbo down. Then a 3" to 2.5" converter to step down to the rest of the exhaust. Helps the Turbo spool up faster, lowers the head temp because the exhaust gasses can get away faster. Best power mod you can buy.

                  Cheers
