  • Running On Veggie oil

Am I right in thinking after reading all the threads that on my 2.4 diesel I could put 50% clean veggie oil mix with 40%diesel and 10% petrol and it would handle this with no additional fuel heater? I see that some run 100 % veggie with heaters?
Thanks for help, after 25 years of driving this is my second diesel!

No need for the petrol, in fact if anything, it weakens the mix.
Only problem with Veg is the thickness, so this time of year don't go over the top. Having said that, my tank is over 75/25% veg/deisel as we speak.
It coughs a bit on start up, clanks loudly untill warm, smells of doughnuts, and I "believe" its not giving me the same amount of power, only yesterday it tried to change down, realised it was already "down" and re-engaged. Never happened before, but never ran so much veg before.
So, my current thoughts are these:
1/2 hour to fill trolley at local supermarket.
      1/2 hour to fill tank.
      Disposal of many 3l bottles
Lack of power compared to Deisel
      Clanky for longer
      Smelly.
      Cheap.

You gets what you pays for it seems.

I bit the bullet last week and went for a 75/25 split diesel/veg to see how it went.
Apart from a bit of a smell it starts and runs great. I bought a new fuel filter as I read that the veg oil can lift the crap from the tank and will probably change it next week after running it for a couple of weeks.
Never noticed a drop in power but maybe things will change as I increase the mix.

        All the best

          veggie oil heater

Any ideas on best set-up of heater to get the oil thinner, seems the best way forward to be able to run higher mix all year around
