Check the seal round the steering column, this often splits, and will definatly be if truck has body lift, other than that as long as a previous owner hasn't been making holes it'll be pretty well sealed form factory.

It isn't rusted out in the wheel wells or anywhere like that, is it? I had a mazda once that had a hole rusted out in the passenger side wheel well. A bit of grinding, cutting and welding and it was watertight again. It was a bit of a pain getting all the old undercoating off so I could make a clean weld, and getting back far enough to get some solid metal.
