No Heating (front only)

Hi all, yet again my heaters are playing up. Ive now managed to get moderate heat from the rear heater, but dammed if i can get the front (all vents) to blow anything thing but "just off cold" air. Ive dropped some water, burped it, topped up, burped it, as well as i can recall (the burping procedure link on the forum doesnt work ???) run it with the cap off etc etc, what am i missing.

Heat, apparently.

Check what Nev said. But my money is on an air lock or a faulty heater control valve.

Ive got air passing thru all the vents but after leaving the jeep stand yestersay, they are all stone cold. The pipes under the bonnet that go thru the bulk head, one is pretty dam hot, the other stone cold. A mate suggests jet washing thu the pipes but im worried that might cause damage. Do you think a bottle of rad flush is worth a try as i dont want to have to replace all that recent antifreeze i put in 4 months ago.

Sounds like your matrix is blocked. Do as your mate says but just use a hosepipe rather than a jetwash. Flush it both ways and hopefully you'll see all the grunge come out. If not its time for a new matrix.

Ok, feel better useing a hose as my washer is 130bar. BUT and now the daft question, what do i leave open for it to flush thru, the top cap or do i undo hoses some where ??

When I did mine I unplugged the 2 pipes that attatch to the metal pipes that run down the left hand side of the rocker cover. (at the back near the turbo). Follow the 2 pipes from the bulkhead and you'll see.

Thanks for the pic Wish, im assuming you mean follow the two pipes that have some sort of foam warpped round them, That smaller pipe behind the longer one that goes off to the right is the one i just couldnt get hot, the long pipe i managed to ge4t pretty dam hot.
Ill have a look at the pipes further down as per your pic but im hoping theyll have jubilee clips on them NOT those dam squeeze together clips.

Where I circled the pipes from the bulkhead join 2 metal pipes that run under the 'efi' pipe. Disconnect there. Replace the crappy clips with decent quality hose clamps (I only use genuine Jubilee brand)

Yup, got them, but where is all this extra water from the hose going to exit ?

You on a wind up ? One of the hoses goes into the matrix, one is coming from. Disconnect them both from the metal pipes. Put hose in one of the pipes, hopefully if its not all blocked see mucky water exit other pipe all over your engine bay and drive. Leave hose running for ten minutes or so. Then remove hose and stick it up the other pipe to reverse flush. Repeat until water runs clear. Reconnect pipes and top up water.

As i had hot air from the rear heater and none from the front,(and one pipe hot, the other cold) i assumed (obviously incorrectly) that one pipe was for rear heat, and the other for the front heat. However, it appears its a one in, one out. Thanks for clarifying it for me.

It would probably be a good idea to flush the rear matrix too....

As you stand in front of the engine the pipes are to the right of the engine. 2 thin pipes that go from beneath the thermostat housing to the the passenger side wing. They attach to 2 metal pipes. If you get under the truck you can trace them from the centre console.
