had a rebuild done to my 2.4, not a very common engine here so my mechanics having issues, the engine starts rough and idles at 1700 rpm and if you put your foot on the pedal it bogs out, im thinking fuel pump timing, but not sure what to think, anyone have any ideas? no codes and no engine light.

Is it a non-EFI truck? If so sounds like the throttle connection on the top of the fuel pump is messed up, has it been undone? they are tricky to match mark and hard to get back in the right place, the smallest adjustment alters the idle.
You don't say what works been done to it? Have they done anything to the fuel pump?4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

any ideas, looks like the mechanic cant figure it out, surf has been at the shop now for 6 weeks, i am really frustrated with the shop, cant see how it wont run when i drove it there with no issues but blue smoke, the hardest part is i cant confirm any attemps to fix as i am not there, they had confirmed all the vac lines are correct, all wiring is correct, fuel lines are correct, could a bad tps cause this issue? i know my pump is really good shape, cant see the pump getting pooched if it was never touched, any ideas would be helpful.

No codes and no check light...difficult to diagnose without looking, but ask your shop to disconnect all +ve battery connections and leave the head light position to on. Any capacitance within the ecu will have somewhere to go. The motor needs to be left like this overnight. This allows the ecu to return itself to it's factory presets. If this has no effect, and you are still not getting any codes, it's sounding very much like your pump is gubbed.Non intercooled nothing.

I disagree, as the pump was fine when i drove the surf to the shop, and the pump is supplying enough fuel at the correct time to the engine, spill valve is operating correctly aswell as no leaks, i know the tps will not always provide a code if faulty, i believe the tps is sending a signal to the pump to supply an aloted amount of fuel no mater the position of the throttle body, in turn cuasing the engine to idle at 1800 rpm and not allow any increase when accelerator pedal is pressed, i believe this is an electrical issue, i was recieving a code 11 not in park or nuetral before the engine overhual, i believe the code 11 was cuased by the tps not providing the correct signal to the ecu becuase the tps was either fualty or incorrect settings. in turn the tps must have finally packed it in?
