I want a surf...but which one???

I am really keen on buying a surf... I have found a good 2.4 but it is a '92 and i am worried about buying a 11 year old car..should i be? are they really built to last forever? i want to use it to launch a small boat and general second car duties....will i regret getting a 2.4 over a 3.0? oh dear for the record everything on the 2.4 works it is really clean (76000 k's) and he only wants 4500 for it (but i'll offer 3800)....would i be silly to let it go? am i mental....should i buy a nice and safe 1 year old micra? (yes that is a joke)

Just do it you know it makes sense. I've had a 92 2.4 for 10 months And I like it so much I got the wife a 90 2.4 yesterday.If your buying from a dealer make sure you get a warranty that will cover the head just in case it goes, not all of them do.Have a good read through the forum so you know what to look for.

as above, take it for a run try out the 4wd. From start up from cold take the rad cap of and start it, if the coolant flows out walk away. As said make sure warranty is good.

i am nervous as hell. i have wanted a surf to replace my car for a week or so and spent a good few hours searching this site for things to look for. i have found a L reg 2.4 td ssrx in gun metel. it seems fine and comes with a six month motor plan waranty (which covers the head apparently). it is not as tidy as some i have seen but it is cheaper and the chap has thrown in a cat 2 immobaliser to meet the requirments of the insurance quote i had from footman james of 500 which is fantatic as far as my circs are concerned.
it does not have a sunroof but hey. the tyres are all good although it has lost its original alloys for some polished steel modulars. the spare is original.
it drives fine except i did my test drive with the handbrake on (well i couldnt see it could i, and i am not used to auto boxes!!!).
its got tax and mot for 11 months
so why am i so god damed nervous???
i put a deposit on it and should be collecting it this week.
please can someone reasure me that this is a good move.

... did you get it? Is it as good as you expected (if not better?) Have you been driving it every night just coz you can? Any pics?
