another starting problem
Since the timing belt and glow plugs were changed the surf was ok for a couple of weeks but since then I have a problem with starting after about 4-5hours.
1st thing in the morning, starts absolutely fine but when i go for lunch, initial start is ok but after 2-3 seconds the engine coughs and splutters like there's air in the fuel system. A quick rev and all is fine again. 4 hours later when it's time to go home, same cough and splutter again.
Could this be a temp sensor issue - ie it's not telling the glow plugs to come on because it thinks the engine is warm enough? Or does the 'warm' engine temp tell the glow plugs to miss the 11v stage, go straight into the lower voltage stage then turn off?
Once again, any advice would be much appreciated -
