Have just got 1992 ssrx 2.4td auto black 60,000mls with new head - what can i expect to go wrong next !!!! Does redex or fuel additives do any good or do most oil companies add it to the fuel in the first place. Getting 25mpg, thought i was getting 35 until i realised the odometer was in km - doh. Dealer told me it was graded 3.5 from jpn in feb - does this actually mean anything??? Can you get roof racks for surfs??? Where can i get the window deflectors??? - too many questions - so little time.

As you have a new head on yours, and as long as you do the regular servicing, you shouldnt have to worry about anything too much! Check the FAQ section for general servicing bits!
As with most cars Fueal additives are personal choice - some people swear by them ( I use Millers Power plus in my diesel) and some people say avoid them like the plague!
25mpg is about average.
Roof racks and deflectors are available - check the for sale sections on here. or ebay for good deals. There are some after market ones available too, and I'm sure someone who knows will be along soon with some url's.
The Jap grading is used in the auctions to classify the quality of the vehicle. Try searching for auctions or importing and see what you find to explain the meaning of each grade - again someone will know the answer and post up here soon I'm sure.
Most importantly - post us some pics!!!

Welcome Thumper,
First : put your feet up on the desk, having poured out a large whiskey.
Deep breath swift drink, then !!!!!
Search the forum for answers to your questions, most are there & with good info & some photo's to help.
Also try Codlords site at :http://www.showmesome.info/hilux, he has some good practical info also.
Basically though it would be a idea to carryout minimum of :
All lubricants changed, for UK types
Flush out coolant, check various links on how to, but do not rush when refilling the system, takes ages ( does with a dram in your hand ) anyway , change themostat, check all pipes / hoses & radiator for leaks.
Timing belt ( cam ) see if there is a Km's reading around the front end of the engine ( near timing belt cover ) if yes, probably hase been changed, for piece of mind, change it anyway.
Check for rear spings sag, before having to many nippy sweeties, if sagging,
replace them.
What else : Milners : www.milneroffroad.com have more spares, filters etc than Toyota UK for the Surf.
Lastly enjoy, if you have any queries just post them, there is a vast amount of Surf knowledge out there known by forum members.
Now wheres my nippy sweetie Hic Hic Hic.
