  • 2.4 injector pump tweak- I am convinced

Having posted previously asking what could be done with an underpowered 2.4, I am now one of the converted who firmly believes that the simple turn of the screw for the fuel flow on the injector pump-absolutely works.
I bought a 1995 3.0 which I slightly prefer, but it has to be said that now the 2.4 actually seems quicker than the 3 off the mark, and with only a little fuel rich smoke? Incredible difference.
Speaking of which, if anyone wants a 2.4 in grey, plenty of tax and mot and 104K miles, (Kent) let me know. Waiting for V5 to come through, though-about a week max.

I don't know how that works as I thought the EFI would just change the fuel pump timing back to how it was.

If you want more power from a 2.4 stick an intercooler on it.
If at first you don't succeed.........give up.

whereabouts is the max load setting screw on the 2.4efi as i wouldn't mind having a little play with it just to see if the gains are worth the risks involved as i have tweaked the old bosch rotary pumps on the old peugeots and got reasonable results with no ill effect (apart from a few startled boy racers)
I'M ALWAYS IN THE SH'T, IT'S ONLY THE DEPTH THAT VARIES!!!!!!!!

A free-flowing exhaust direct from the turbo will achieve the same results as the turbo will work more efficiently.

An engine needs to be able to exhale before it can inhale more fuel/air.

Similar to breathing in through your mouth and trying to breathe out through a nose full of bogies!

Hi, there is several images on the forums, if you put "injector pump" in on a search, it will bring them up?Right side of the engine bay looking from the front, look down and you see a small (usually rusty)thimble on top of the pump, pull it off with a pair of pliers-underneath is the adjustment screw, turn about 6-8 clicks to the right; mind you, thats the advice I got from elsewhere on the forum, but mine didn't actually seem to click, so I guessed it!!I don't know how this tweak alone works, i just know it has, and intercoolers and freeflow exhausts are fine if you want to keep the vehicle, but in this case I'm not (and this costs nothing, added 10 bhp min for free)

More fuel = more heat. On a 2.4, thats never a good thing.

                heat removal 2.4td?

used to drive a merc 250. massive. heater burned your fingers even when on full blow why ? heater boost pump, continuous rating, in line ruber mounted bracket,. bunged it into the surf 2.4 rear heater hose, rear heater is now a goodun, and nice to know the extra heat drawn off the head, and increased flow is always there. prefer to open a window than risk another head change !
