  • Drain Away?

Last week i removed the injectors for checking and all was found to be ok.
Then when they were put back in I have been experiencing starting problems (taking three or four cranks (ooh eer) before it struggles into life).
Check the glow plugs, all ok. When running it runs fine. Tonight I have cracked open the injectors to check for air locks and no problem.
I have noticed that the fuel pump primer fails to hold pressure, does this mean the fuel is draining backwards in to the tank?
Any ideas on a cure or possible problem.

    Cheers

Three washers per injector, the smallest one on very tip of nozzle, the largest copper one which the injector body seats into, and the silver one which goes down over the top of the injector threads before you throw on the leakage pipe. They dont cost a whole lot, probably £10 for all 12 and you can get the part numbers round here, it'll just mean pulling them all back out again, easy the 2nd time.

Try filling the filter with diesel before you prime and get a good gush going at the outpipe before you attach the hose, I spray it down into the hose too until it spills out before I attach it, then pump like a good thing until you feel the primer tighten up.

    Just a few ideas.

I had similar problem as yourself but turned out in the end the glowplug fuse had blown in all the fun. Also the arrangement of the washers and connections at the glowplugs is essential too.

Try the washers first, but ..............in mine it was the primer diaphragm that had a little split in it so failed to hold a prime.
I got a new one ( aftermarket ) for about NZ$110 complete with filter.
All my woes were no more
oh, then went the injectors.....glow plugs........battery......star ter soleniod....rear window..... blah blah blah
