Viscose/electric fan constantly running

Hi all,
First of all, not sure if my K reg 2.4 Auto has an electric fan or a viscose fan. However, since a recent oil engine change, and an engine steam clean, the fan has been kicking in more frequently. Its now almost constantly running, even to the point of not getting out of my cul de sack before it starts.( 5am this morn for example)
Ive checked all the levels, rad seems fine and temp gauge never rises above the norm. The wine from the fan also seems to fluctuate (not sure if thats normal).
Any ideas why its now doing this as up untill recently it hardly ever kicked in unless i was towing.

So that it doesnt appear that i havent tried to work this one out for myself, would this be the problem, and if so, does someone have a second hand one for sale, or is there anything to check on it or "twidle"with ?

Your truck has both fans. Viscous behind the radiator and an electric one in front of it.

You say the fan has only been problematic since you steam cleaned the engine? You may have shorted something out.

And what kind of wine do you get from the fan? If it's a nice crisp white, can I have some please?

Hi Al, the wine is free, send some bottles down and ill fill them for you.
I didnt clean it, my mate who changed the oil,filters etc steamed it thinking he was doing me a favour, but i suspect it may have created a prob, possibly a short as you suggest. Ill be getting my hands dirty to look for something obvious shortly, but that dam radiator hose clip is a Bas****d to undo.
Do you think im on the right track in respect of the sensor, or might somthing else cause the fan to run continuously?

if you unplug the sensor, the fan will run, so I'd start there, make sure the connections arn't corroded or loose.

Personally, I'd replace the viscose fan with a nice shot-silk number, perhaps in this springs hot colour?

Thanks Tony, just found out the problem, as suspected, my mate who thought he was doing me a favour, must have either bumped or over steamed around the grey plug connector. The result is, the Sensor maybe working perfectly well, but not sure if i can get the connector plug off without further damage.(on a scale of 1 to 10 its prob 4 to 5 cracked, damaged, but enough to cause a bad connection)
Can i get a replacement plug, or should i try to get this one off and try to repair, i probably know before i start, the plastic will break completely leaving the spade, how about electrical tape ??? to recover the spade???

Anyone got a plug lying about with 2 or 3 inches of wire that i can solder on.??
