Sorry to be a complete moron,
but what are the sequence of events to a cracked head.What can I expect to see before,during and after the head goes?
As the top blew off my rad,I'm now thinking head,uh oh!
Or is it just best to wait and see what happens when the rad is back on and when the rad is on what can I expect to see if the head is cracked?

Excess pressure in the cooling system, sauna from the exhaust, water in the oil, loss of power, lower mpg, expansion bottle overflowing.
A faulty stat could cause excess pressure, resulting in loss of coolant as well, only sure way to tell is to have the system pressure tested.

Ours lost tons of water through the expansion bottle and started spewing smoke out the exhaust.
