  • Turbo Boost Pressure ?

    Hi,
Anybody know what the Turbo Boost Pressure is on a Std Surf 2.4TD 1992 in both Bar & PSI ? Went to get a Turbo Boost Gauge yesterday and the Guy / BOY said that the 2.4 TD did not produce enough BOOST to operate a Boost Gauge they supply at MOTOR-WORLD - It showed approx 2 BAR on the Gauge and was a multi colored display type trade name Fast & Furious anybody used one of these. I don't believe for a second that a 2.4 TD won't produce enough boot to operate a Gauge.

    Thanks, Andy.

Yep around 7psi.1 bar = 100 kpa = 14.3 psi.A lot of gauges have a high maximum reading (around 30psi I think) so on a Surf the needle does not move much.Try to get a gauge with a lower maximum (about 15 psi) and this will be easier to see what is happening with boost.

When my Surf had a diesel engine the max turbo boost was 0.8 Bar at 3250rpm; that's about 11 psi, which I believe was standard on the 2LT engine.

Standard boost is about 7 psi mine is running 9

Tell the !!!! at the shop that your turbo will produce enough boost to operate a gauge and incidently will produce enough power to get the front end of your surf up his bonnet to the windscreen on his poxy lowered rice rocket without even needing to boost. SO THERE !!!

o.k so I have some unresolved issues with the cap on backwards brigade too
