  • Steam from Rad Cap

    Hi all,
Got back from a 12 mile round trip this morning,( 45 to 50 mph max) pulled up outside of the house and heard a hissing under the bonnet, Steam from the cap where you fill the water. By coincidence, id checked my water level via the cap day b4 yesterday and the level was fine. IF i hadnt resecured the cap properly, would this cause steam to escape thru the cap, or is it going to be somthing more serious. Im pretty sure it was from the cap but not much light at 6am.
Going to retop when light later, but any advice very welcome.
    Nigel
As an after thought, what would be the symptoms of a frozen water system ? been reading some threads and some say a 30% antifreeze mix may not be enough.

the cap is probably not sealed re fit it once it has cooled it should be a very tight fit no steam should be coming from the cap.

thanks, cleaned up the cap and the bit it goes in just in case, but it looks like i hadnt tightened it properly. To three lts of antifreeze and three of water to replace what it lost. DUHH my fault.
