  • Is the Starter Motor the same for Auto & Manual LN130?

Hi, I've currently got a problem where it sounds like a something is destroying itself in the bell housing but research and the search function (before anyone jumps on me!) suggests it could either be the starter sticking and smacking the teeth against the fylwheel or the dual mass flywheel itself breaking up.

Well, the next thing that's happened is that the starter will whine after I have stopped cranking the engine so I have a feeling that the starter is on it's way out either way.

My main question is this; are the auto and manual starters the same? Roughtrax doesn't list 2 so I am assuming they are. If so then I'll get one from a breakers or one from one of you guys if you have any going spare to test it and see what happens so I don't have to pull my gearbox off (unless anyone has any idea how to see inside the bell housing without taking it off?!).

After that it'll be a flywheel conversion and clutch I guess??

    Thanks,

    Ray.
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

Most are the same and a 2.7KW starter. There are some however, with a 2.0KW. I don't know which vehicles these are fitted to, so just compare sizes and just to be sure the tooth count on the starter gear. There is a variation in this as well with a 10 and an 11 tooth. Again I am not sure which is which.

Thanks for the info, I'll bear it in mind about the £60 purchase too.
There are a number of them about for less (not that I am casting dispersions over your items!).

Do you happen to have a flywheel and clutch kit at all? Dual mass replacement or a solid conversion from an old truck is fine. As far as Roughtrax says the dual mass for mine takes 225mm clutch but the uprated solid one takes a 240mm clutch? Is that correct?

        Cheers,

        Ray.
