Yes I have searched - before you all start - lol

Truck keeps dumping alot of coolant out of the expansion tank every month or so, never overheats, has no presence of water in oil, oil in water, passed a block test. New rad cap, thermostat. Even did it when there was no thermostat in it.

Surely if the head was cracked etc it would be consistantly doing it an not every 4 or 5 weeks.

Have you changed the cap and thermostat? Clean the radiator cap seat too.

                    Hi Bibs

Check that the pipe from the cap to the expansion tank isn't perished. If it is it will draw in air instead of coolant from the tank, will gradually build up an airlock over time.

my old 2.4 did the same thing for a while
there was an air lock in the system
one other thing i noticed once is that the temp gauge shot way into the red and then back down to normal in a matter of 20 seconds whilst driving.

                      bleed the system

                          Cheers Kev/Gord.

Right then next move is to replace the hoses. Then bleed the system 'again'.

                          Fingers crossed eh.

I assume there no obvious leaks from the hoses? Also have you checked the water pump for leaks? The seals on mine had gone, the obvious sign is water dripping out of the little hole at bottom of water pump.

Try the little expansion tank hose first if no obvious leaks.

No leaks - never loses any apart from throwing out the expansion tank when it bubbles over. Then draws it back as it cools.

New water pump last year and has good pressure round the system.

Lookin at gettin one now xxx
