In front of the steering wheel. (Looking from under the bonnet, obviously).

I recall seeing something recently mentioning that the chassis number is apparently stamped on one of the rails within the front wheel arch. Can't say as I've ever checked that personally though.

Yep, on the driver's side chassis rail, in the front wheel well if I remember.

I have the same problem - managed to locate both chassis numbers (same number in two places I mean), but can't find the engine number. Can anyone help? It's 2L-TE.

                      Hi mate,

It's on the block face just above the injector pump.
                      Hope this helps.

                      Gman.
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

Thanks, but uhm, maybe you could be more specific geographic-wise? Like, you know, "when standing in front of the engine look on the left side next to a big curvy pipe" or something? I'm not too much of a mechanic I'm afraid... so far at least
                        Thanks in advance!

                          OK mate,

Standing at the front of truck, passeners side. At the front,
of the engine under the air pipe to the turbo, there lives
the pump, it has 4 pipes, one to each injector, just behind
it, is the engine block, push the cables/pipes out of the way
and you will see a sort of shelf, that where the engine number
can can be found. (anyone got a piccy?)
If nobody posts a piccy by 12.00noon tomoz I will.

I owe you a nice pint of black stuff, wouldn't make it without the straw.
Just a final question - it's just 7 digits long, right?
