  • Whats this for?

I have removed this from the air intake filter can. the outer ally sides have broken away and this is now what it looks like
    Picture should be attached
there is a hose from the air box that attaches to this, the sides have corroded away and you can now see the magnets (keep jnr. away)
does it collect the metal bits in the air away from the engine??? (pollution)

The big question is... should it be replaced or not

Sounds like a 'snake oil' device. Commonly bought by people looking for wonder cures for the low mpg / low power of these trucks. I'd bin it and not worry about it any longer.

i dont know about you but it looks like its done a pretty damn good job of removing metal particles from the air.but what i want to know is how the hell did those four bolts get in the air intake in the first place.as others have said throw it away and block the hole up.

I looked up the japanese symbols (which are upside down in your picture) and it is "Furachi na" which translates into a type of character in MANGA comics, so no help there. I've also looked at my copy of the Toyota Elelctronic Parts Catalogue, and there is nothing like it on a factory built air intake system. So I agree with the rest of the team and Bin it!
