  • Timing Belt

    Hi
How quickly after warning light appears should I get belt changed, I know it should be soon but I have to arrange for garage & time off work, can I still Drive My Surf. Also what is average time for this job, just want to make sure I don't get stung. Another query I have water leaking from what i believe to be air con unit, I am losing water regularly, put some K Seal in on Friday seemed to have fixed it, went for run up Motorway temp gauge stayed at normal ,when i parked up water leaking at back of aircon again, can i repair unit get it braised or something , any ideas?

    Thanks

Get it changed ASAP. You can still drive it. 2.4 about 4 hours 3.0 about 1 hour to change.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

There is no water in the aircon. What you are seeing is condensation from the aircon rad.

If the carpet is wet in the footwells then i would say it's probably the heater matrix thats leaking or the pipes that attach to the matrix

check the water pump as that could be leaking when the engine has been switched off after a run.Check all the other pipes and along the top of the rad for any leaks aswell as there may be pin holes in the top of the rad which only show up under pressure

                  timing belt

                  Hi Richard
You were spot on when you suggested to check water pump, whilst garage changed timing belt I asked them to check for water leak and sure enough it was water pump, which in their opinion was read ro give upghost at any time.
Have you got a speedometer to replace my KPH on 1992/3 2.4 TD Surf

                  cheers adrianash
