  • hola amigos

    remember me?

well the old girl has been loving it here (Ibiza) until just recently when she started leaking diesel from the pump somewhere i assume.

havent taken it apart yet to look but from reading around that's the most likely place for a sudden diesel leak to occur isn't it?

luckily there are a couple of otherwise broken down surfs laying around so I can go and get a pump from one of those, but what's involved in just replacing a pump, will I need specialist equipment or parts?

im fairly competent with this kind of thing but am really just wondering what exactly is involved, can anyone shed any light on the issue?

thanks in advance for your time

not unless it's being stripped and resealed , beware that pumps from 2lt engines will not fit 2lte engines .........

if you refurb ...this is the best place in the uk ........you may have some one more local though

before you go replacing the whole pump,it may just be a leaky seal. Rougtrax sell a reconditioning kit and I fixed mine in under 20 minutes.

                Postal Service
The Spanish Postal Service has over 6,000 offices all over the country, including small villages, railway stations, ports and airports. They provide a wide range of modern and efficient services.

The principal offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao, as well as those located in the international airports, are open 24 hours a day.

The services carried out by the Postal Service are of two fundamental types: those that are purely postal in nature such as those relating to different kinds of correspondence, and those that are known as postal banking services, dealing with money, such as postal and telegraphic money orders. In each office, there is a service called the Postal List where one can register to receive all types of correspondence, packages or money orders, which, in turn, can be forwarded to hotels or any other address.

The stamps required for mailing correspondence are sold at Post Offices and outlets known as "estancos" which are establishments authorised to sell tobacco, stamps and seals and which form an extensive network covering practically the entire country.

For information on the many varied services offered by the Spanish Post Office, call (91) 536-0110.

heh not sure what you mean by this..

if you're trying to imply that the post is ok to use here, you're going to have to take my word for it, it's a joke. it's like a black hole you send things into and never receive, ever. we're in Ibiza and that's next the level of slackness again from spain I promise.

Yes. The 2LT is a 2.4 litre turbo diesel with a mechanical fuel pump. The 2LTE is a 2.4 litre turbo diesel with an electronic fuel pump. A 3L (whilst we're on the subject) is a 2.8 litre naturally aspirated diesel, presumably with a mechanical fuel pump.

In terms of making sure you get the right one, you almost certainly have a 2LTE. It will have a silver pipe on top with 'EFI' written on it. Assuming it does, get one from another engine with EFI on it.

am glad this was pointed out, have just been over there, you are correct to say that mine is a K Reg LTE and of course the other one is an H reg LT.

                              hello all (again)

right so have been investigating this and am struggling to see where the leak is actually coming from.

its dripping from what looks to be the underneath of the pump down onto the sump, and it only does it with the engine running (pain as batteries are dead) but seems to be coming from underneath it somewhere, not the top seals shown here.

                              http://toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/fuelpump.htm

whats underneath there to leak, just the fuel tube into the pump and that seal?

and how the ###### hell are you supposed to see it leak if you have to strip it all down so it wont run to see where its coming from.. ?

                              mutter mutter mutter
