  • Part No For Auto Transmission Filter

I,m going to change my auto transmission fluid next weekend. To save any mix-ups with the local Toyota dealer it would be nice to have the ATX oil filter number.
    Can anyone help please?
Also, I was thinking of fitting a couple of small fans in front of the ATX cooler to keep the air flowing in slow traffic, as my transmission gets quite warm, although I dont get a transmission temp warning. Any thoughts on this idea?

    Ta, in advance.

I could be wrong but I don't think the filter is a replaceable item. At worst you clean it and put it back (?)

That's what I've gathered from all the reading I've done.

        Thanks Roger and Rob.

I remember seeing a thread on the old forum with a pic of the ATX tray off and the filter highlighted. I 've also read that in-line filters can be fitted to the return pipe from the cooler and that this reduces wear on the gearing.
I've also seen a recommendation that the transmission fluid is changed at half manufacturers recommended interval especially if you tow.

Iv'e done some research and it's a magnetic doobry firkin watsit and only needs to be flushed out with parafin, petrol (wot's that ) or some other de-greaser and shoved back in. if its magnetic will the de-greaser unstick the magnetic particles?.................... Only kidding!

Dextron 2 or equivalent I believe. Have a look in the FAQ's section, I think TonyN posted it there yonks ago. Lists all the recommended fluids and capacities.
