Ok - so fitted my recon injectors from diesel bob on friday. Other than breaking a spill return pipe, it went quite well. Bled the injectors then tried to start - nothing. Bled again until i was sure that the air was out and tried again - still nothing. Out of desperation tried some electrical solvent spray down intake and cranked again. This time it fired and after a little cough and splutter ran.

I left it running for 5 mins to recharge the battery, then turned off. Went for a cuppa and ten mins later it re-started. Ran it for a couple of miles and everything seemed fine.

Next day (car standing for 24hrs) tried to start it - nothing. Turned it over for about 30-40 seconds ands eventually it fired. Same again this morning.

So basically cold starting problem - any thoughts bearing in mind it started perfectly on the old injectors

Sounds like you have an incomplete seal somewhere. Did you replace all washers and such, (with new, if applicable)? Does pumping the primer on the fuel filter unit provide resistance straight away?

my first thoughts was lack of fuel, air lock or bad glow plugs. All seals replaced and torqued up correctly - no signs of blowing around the plugs and runs perfectly once started. I've definately got fuel, I'll check the glow plug circuit in work tomorrow when I can get access to my multi-meter. in the meantime any help welcome - thanks guys

          Air leak somewhere ?
On my old mondeo the seal went on the manual primer pump on the fuel filter. I ended up having to prime every time I needed to start it until I replaced the filter housing.

if you have not reassembled the glowplug buzz bar correctly you will have blown the 80 amp fuse

spot on biohazard - I had a look at the post and thats exactly what I've done. Got a bit over-exited at the thought of the new injectors and rushed the last few 'straight forward' bits at the end. Had to make one of the insulators after dropping it down that gap where everything seems to fall into but nothing ever comes out the bottom. I'll fit a new fuse tonight and hopefully she'll start better in the morning.
Incidentally, the new injectors make a noticeable difference in power and hardly any smoke. Topped up the tank today for the first mpg test.

the fuses are about a tenner from toyota, they undo from underneath so you have to try and turn the fuse box over to get to it

thanks - Ive already unbolted the fuse box to take a look - seems like they could have made it even harder to change a fuse if they really tried. I don't know how much the local garage is going to charge as he hasn't got them yet but roughtrax do them for £4 - dont mind paying a little bit more to get them today though
