I recently blew my head ON A 2.4 SURF.ive been saving for an upgrade, whilst waiting i been getting bits and bats for it.Then i came across a site in london. He fits nearly new engines picks van up drops it off,With 12 mths warranty on all parts.you then test drive ect,all for £1350.Is this cheap or what.I know i got priced nearly a grand for a upgrade head and to be fitted,so i recon this is a better deal for a extra say 400.00 pound. So will be surfing again soon.

i dont think steveo can do it cheaper.Ive also been talking to others about this garage, hes been doing it for years. He also fits other cars vans ect. They also do the upgrade heads.I cant see there being much difference.Plus they pick up so i might as well go for it.At the end of the day there all mechanics.Last edited by steveo44; 14 February 2009, 17:53.NEVER GIVE UP SHES WORTH IT*

Personally I would still go with a new head from Stevo, at least you know its gonna be fitted with a proper redesigned head.
A whole nearly new engine sounds good but to be honest you could be buying another engine with the naff old head on it. 14 months down the line and you could be back where you are now and financially worse off.
For me I would go with a new head and peace of mind from Stevo, someone who has been tried and tested by many on here.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

If it was me I'd go to Stevo...
At least u know that u are deffo getting a good job done...
Don't forget if a ebay man buggers up then not much that can be done and he won't loose much business over it...
Now if stevo ####ed up (not that he wud but) he'd loose all the forums business.... and any surfer that we know....
So u see what I mean?
Just go Stevo mate u know he is good and it's worth paying that little extra knowing you are going to have trouble free motoring after that....
He does a re-con engine for a good price too..... slightly more then the ebay man but deffo a good engine....One day at the time I guess..

Thanks
Thanks for the advice,But i asked him first what head is on the recon,He told me its an upgrade. He even siad when ive done the job ect,You can bring an AA member or someone.I know steveo,s highley thought off,But sometimes you have to try someone else.If down the line im back at square one well thats my own fault. But if the guy is good and he is only fitting the engine ive hopefully saved money, and have a few more years on my truck.I will post to let u know how im getting on.Once again thanks.NEVER GIVE UP SHES WORTH IT*

I'm crossing everything for you, but if that has an upgraded head on it I'm the Queen of Sheba. In fact, I'm the King of Sheba eating his own b0llocks.
How can it make more sense to buy a dodgy engine off ebay than it can to buy an upgraded head (that being the only thing that's wrong with the current engine) off someone you can trust for less?
Good luck with it whatever.

Can bring an AA memebr mechanic, they will not have a clue what they are looking for as far as an upgraded head goes.
The difference is the thickness of the wall between the water way and vlave guides, were talking thou of an inch.
So unless you strip it all down, know the old thicknes and the new thickness get your micrometer out and measure it you wont know, doubt the AA or any one else will do that.
Anyway, its you choice, advice has been given and you obviously feel this guys genuine, so go for what you feel is right.
Hope it all goes Ok for you and no further troubles.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

If you can get it to Stevo, he will probably have a look and tell you what's up and what he thinks needs doing. He is normally quite happy to discuss things over the phone too if you want some quality advice.
