Are 2.8 worth more than 2.4T or vice versa

Are 2.8's worth more than 2.4TD or vice versa. I know that the 2.4 has problems, but it must be a nicer car to drive when its working? And is it true you can get a 3.0v6 petrol, are they reliable ?

There is a petrol V6 model. Poor quality head gaskets lead to a failure around the 80,000kms mark... not sure. Im know our resident V6 guy PDR will let you know.


Not sure value wise if there would be much difference between a 2.4 turbo an 2.8 n/a.

I'd probably hazard a guess that the 2.4 would be more sellable due to people knowing its a model.

The 2.8 is a rarity!!

i have an old h plate 2.8 and its nearing the 300,000 ks mark,never had a problem with it so far,yea ok its a bit of a slug,but if its reliability your after i cant fault it even after all the shit i give it offroad,no engine management systems so no electronics to go wrong and it even has wind down windows.and better fuel economy than the 2.4 and 3.0ltr.if you can find one as they are rare as hens teeth i would expect them to be around the same money as a 2.4
also got the 3.0ltr v6 petrol surf,great fun but head gasket reliability is an issue as rod said.but that is due to old poor quality gasket material,the problem was resolved with new gaskets,so if buying one make sure gaskets have been done.
