if you get under the truck and half way back in the centre you will see 2 pipes going up through the floor to the rear heater matrix. These pipes then go under the bonnet and join into the pipes that go through the bulkhead to the front heater matrix. The pipes that run to the rear heater can sometimes become blocked so you will need to get them flushed through

take the pipes off of the rear heater from underneath and then make sure water is flowing through and if not it will be a case of trying to unblock them

Ok.. seems easy enough... are these pipes connected to the main engine cooling system, or seperate? should i be running clean water into the rad as the pipes empty out to keep air out?

if you follow the 2 pipes back into the engine bay from the bulkhead you will see that they have a smaller pipe coming off of each one and running underneath to the rear heater. If you take both ends of the small pipes of then flush then through and water should come out the ends under the truck
I've never had to do it myself so this is the way i would do it unless someone else comes up with a better way

A tried and tested way to unblock the rear heater pipes is with a inner brake cable from a push bike . Put the cable in a cordless drill and run it through each pipe to clear the crud out from each end. Then re connect the pipes and do a coolant flush with a brand name coolant flush such as Wynns or similar .

ok, will have a go tomorrow...

As it sounds as if its blocked, should i be worrying about the rest of the cooling system??????

                Couple of questions...

1, How much antifreeze needs to go back in

2, If i flush it all through, is there an issue when i refill with airlocks?
and if so, how do i get rid of them??

Thanks for all your help guys..Mission completed..

After tracing all the pipes i found the blockage, on the return pipe from the rear heater matrix...

Also found that someone had removed the thermostat, guess that was why it was taking ages to warm up in the mornings!!

Flushed the system through twice, got rid of all the gunk...
Now sorted with some new anti freeze and a nice clean system ready for winter.

Both heaters now blowing nice and hot, engine temp nice and stable.

                  thanks

A missing thermostat is very worrying as it is an easy botch to overcome a failed head for a short while to sell it.

you will need to drain the coolant a bit till it reaches the filament in the rad as not to give false readings when testing
