  • Heater not working after dash removal

I had the local garage do the clutch for me and get the truck through its MOT. One of the things that needed to be done was fixing back electric for a trailer plug-in. The old one got ripped off doing some off-road work and the lights also stopped working so I figure the 2 were related.

Anyway, she's back, new MOT and all the lights work, BUT I don't have any heating. Its just blowing "wet" air onto the windscreen! I know they must have done something with the dashboard as the clock is now working, when it wasn't before (and I don't mean it stopped working when the lights failed).

Someone has suggested that a numpty in the garage was left to re-attach the dashboard and will have left the heater matrix disconnected.

This is where I need help. Could that be the cause? How do I get to that part? (I have taken the dash off before to put in a new radio).

Any suggestions? I'm currently mopping the inside of the windscreen and wishing I had wipers! It is less of a problem if I leave my window open and no blowers on, but we'll be in for some serious snow and I need my windows shut and the heater working!

Are you getting wet carpets? Dripping out of the plactic footwell heater output?

Does your model have a slidders for Hot to Cold?

No wet carpets yet. Happened before and the heater matrix was replaced, but that was over a year back. Had a puddle in the footwell then and this seems very similar, just at the moment I have a constantly wet screen on the inside and no heat coming through the blowers.

Yes, sliders for hot and cold.

Take a look in your passanger footwell, just under the dash there is a white control arm with a wire loop which connects to your heat control, that loop of wire can come off and not which the heating on

I've taken a look under. IF you mean the wire that connects to the sliders, then its on and fine.

Thanks for your help! Any other ideas?

The heater slidder operates two things, one is flap that allows hot air to enter the truck (that's the think you have checked hopefully) and the other is a valve under the bonnet.

Ok going back to basics, does the heater valve open? Think it's attached to the bulk head under the bonnet, get someone else to move the control and you will see it, do the in-let and out-let pipes get hot? again these pipes go through the bulk head under the bonnet.

Even if your heater matrix is leaking the heating should still work, although misting up and water on the inside for the screen from the blower does not sound good.
