2.4 Timing marks

  • 2.4 Timing marks

    Has anyone got a picture of the 2.4 engine showing the cam belt and timing marks, hopefully before tomorrow when i have anothe go at setting it up, should the marks be spot on middle ond are they all at the 12 o'clock position.

    They are NOT all at 12 o'clock! Search for pics, there are some on here.

      If stuff doesn't line up first time, turn the engine by hand at least one full revolution (2 crank revs) and re-check. If it doesn't line up, re-do it.

        but when you turn it by hand make sure you do it from the bottom pulleys as, if done from the camshaft the belt may slip off

          L-T or LT-E engine .....the timing marks are diferent

            Sorry, like Sledge said, do it from the crank pulley. And the marks will alays line up perfectly (after a couple of revs by hand) if the timing is right, if they do not all line up 100% perfectly, re-do the timing until they do!

                a trick i learn't was to put the camshaft one notch in front of the line then put belt on, then turn cam back and the belt will be tight enough that it won't slip
