  • New head Bits

    Hello Persons
Just received lots of expensive parts from UK Cylinder Heads.
I notice the stretch bolts have nasty modern notched heads.
Does anyone know what this configuration of bolt head is called?
The source of a socket to suit would be useful too.
    Thank you in anticipation.

Thanks for the reply Stara. I don't think its a torx head.

Buy one of the normal sockets - not the hex shaped ones but the ones with lots of v sections from halfords, It's 17mm as far as I remember.

Standard Halfords or draper ones will do it.

        Cheers

          Thank you Lucky
I think I am the problem. After 50 years in mechanical maintenance I like things to fit, not nearly fit.
A 14mm heavy duty socket nearly fits as does a 9/16 AF socket.
Both would probably do the job.
I may just try to get the right tool to make me happy.

Yep it's the 14mm socket. Forgot it was quite a small head. Anyway I've got a set of cheap draper sockets from Halfrauds and they worked fine even with the extreme level of Torque that you need to tighten up the head.

I think the proper tool is an external Torx socket. Think it is the same pattern as a Torx head but on the outside rather than the inside.

            Edit.

Just found the correct ones I think.

              Thank you lucky
Tried the site you suggested and they sell sockets at a very keen price but the carriage is very dear.
I have found hunting though my many tool boxes a hydraulic pump socket I only used once,
supplied by Rexroth Germany. It fits the bolts very well.
Thank you again for the help
