  • Help Needed! UJ's shot!

    Hi All.
I am rather begging for help here.
My rear UJ is shot, so I have removed the rear propshaft, and now I have a front wheel drive Surf!
I have looked at the UJ, and am struggling to work out how to get the old one out. There seems to only be shiny round blanks in each hole in the UJ "cage", with no sign of circlip or anything like that. Mine is a series 2 ln130, 1991, auto.. Could anyone give a clue?

Never done one on a Surf, but Ford used to crimp the flange on the Transits so they were a specialist job to change them.

The circlips are on the inside of the yoke - probably hidden by loads of crud.

That seems to be a good idea! are the uj's ok on that prop, and will a prop from the manual fit the auto? If so, then my number is 07789908943... and we can sort!

Truro, then Coombe (Kea one!), then St day...
Can't talk for long, the air is a bit thin up here!!!

If you want to pop in for a cuppa on Monday on your way through, I am 1.5 miles off J22.

Rocket scientists look away now - spring the circlips off with a screwdriver, press the caps out using a vice and and something like a socket to push them out. If you take a wire brush to the yokes and find the circlips all will become clear

Ah, I didn't realise the caps would come out! I will look deeper into it tomorrow, but a spare prop may be a good idea, 'cos I do try and break the surf on a fairly regular basis!

Richard, I trust you take "proper" food with you when you travel.... you know, wrapped in pastry....
