  • Turbo Problem

Recently had an engine change done on 2.4 SSR-X. Prior to this turbo seemed ok but engine noisy, overheating and smoking a lot, hence change. Turbo seems to be running, engine power ok on flat, eg no probs getting to 70 eventually. Poor accelleration and won't go past 30 on hills - shame cos I live at 45. I know- the old ones are the best.

When 1st switch ignition on, the turbo bulb lights so know the bulb ok plus whatever is checked out at switch on. Prior to ecu change, turbo kicked in at around 2.5 to 3000 rpm and the green light came on. Had similar problem many years ago on another engine but it was solved by mechanic who told me certain pipes/tubes had been incorrectly fitted and were wrong way round. Probably same scenario this time but do not know what pipes/tubes were swapped and mechanic no longer around.

Has anyone experience of this problem and could help please?

    Many thanks

Check the small rubber pipe is securely connected, they can often get oil on them, swell and get knocked or drop off. Without this connection, there will be no boost pressure.
