While you've got the EGR valve off, make up some blanking plates for the exhaust and inlet manifold using the gaskets as a guide, then Bin the Egr.
IT's not how you get in it . IT's how you get out.

One question, Why , what advantage do I get by taking it off.

(very simplified)the egr system recirculates hot exhaust gases and passes them through the inlet manifold to be burnt again, thus reducing emmissions.but it is not needed in this country so can be removed or blocked off.this instantly reduces black smoke and combustion temperatures.

Hi again -need help with re-assemble

          Hi again,

It has taken some time to save the pennies to buy a cylinder head and all the other components I needed as a result the engine was in bits for a long time and my manuals have poor pictures so am having trouble re assembling.

The EGR control valve assemble has holes for three bolt, does any thing else connect to this unit and does any one have a good photo showing this area of the inlet manifold.

          Thanks in advance.
