  • Removing radiator

Mines got a pin hole leak in the top, there's residue along the seam and it appears to be getting worse.

Rather than pay well over a hundred for an unknown part
off a breaker, when it may have been standing for awhile with water in it,
I can get mine repaired for around 70 quid locally,

so how do they come out, did I see another fan in front of it?

    cheers

comes out easier if you take the viscous fan off.the auxilliary fan wont get in the way.
    Non intercooled nothing.

remove the 4 nuts on the viscous fan then remove the 2 big coolant pipes to let water out and then take off the 2 smaller pipes on the bottom of the rad which have atf in them so youll need to block these off so you don't lose to much atf. There are 2 nuts either side of the rad to undo then you should be able to get the rad out

You can buy new radiators for about £140. I agree- I wouldn`t buy second-hand and think the best idea is to have your existing one re-cored.

            well...

At least the fan came undone easilly.
that shroud isn't going back on again though, but after an Hour of struggling its all off and waiting to go to rad place.

whats the extra radiator for in front though?

That shroud can be a bugger when it wants to be, can't it. Cooling will suffer slightly if you don't refit it, however.

Which vehicle do you have? Do you mean fan or rad?

The rad in front of the main rad is aircon.

Right I sent my rad off for repair Monday, first thing they said without seeing it was 'how old is it' followed by
'lets look at it and see how bad it is'

he made a couple of repairs to the leaks in the top (header) but when he tested it in his tank or something he reckoned it was probably better to source another One really.

he was'nt able to offer anything so its back to E-bay
think I have One, so just waiting for that to turn up.

                    my question.
when I drained the rad on removal, what came out was just water (and radweld) sorry about that.

what needs to go back in and is it a special coolant from Toyota, or will halfords own do?
