What to look for ?

Hi Guys

I'm thinking about buying a Hilux Surf, and by reading previous posts they seem to have issues with the head gasket and cracked cylinder heads.

What would be an indication of these problems? And also, are there other common problems to look for ?

Appriciate all the help I can get.

It's a starting point ......go for a 3ltr if you can

if its had a new genuine head fitted you should be fine from further troubles. Check all electricals ie windows etc for operation, air con and 4wd.
Head problems in he main are limited to the 2.4 with a large batch of naff heads fitted.
Once replaced with a good genuine new head, not stitched/repaired then you should be fine (in my opinion some the the cheap heads on ebay are not worth the hassle, may be good for a few months and you'll be back to square one).
Theres a few Surfs for sale on here from regular forum members, check them out and you'll be able to pick up a good one.
