as you might be aware i need to get my sump off so i can remove the timing casing. I was told i need to drop the front diff...i have disconnected the drive shaft flanges as advised but the diff doesn't drop . what have i missed? i can see to long vertical bolts on either side of diff which seem to be holding it..do i need to undo these and if so, how.you can't get a socket and wrench onto top bolt to hold it..i have tried to undo sump bolts but can't reach 4 on either side and looking at it it seems that dropping the diff won't make alot of difference......any good suggestions would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance.

yes you need to undo theses two bolts + there is one at the front as well.if you get underneath and put a ring spanner on the nuts, using a ratchet and an extension you should be able to udo the bolts just keep turning the bolt until the spanner get trapped between the chassis and mounting.that should lock it in place leaving your other hand free to undo the bolt using the ratchet.
