    hi people

i did a search but it hasnt helped me out...

problems with the autobox on a 2.4 td

it drove perfect 60 miles changing smooth etc

then all of a sudden it started slipping like a maunal gearboxed car
when its cold it will drive ok for two minutes, when it heats up wont select any gear or move....

i have changed the gear oil twice now still the same and getting worse

    any ideas?

also do these need to have the ecu rest when the gear box fails/fluid change

    thanks for any advice /help

Is there sufficent atf in the box and how did you check the level?
you need to have the engine running and foot on the brake and move the gear selector thru the gears a few times and then check the level. If it needs topping up fill it thru the orange dipstick tube

      thanks m8

      yes i checked the levels
both cold and warm the fluid level is ok

      just dont make sense

i was told that the ecu throws up an error

thats why it does that, then u have to rest the ecu

      anyone else

What error is your ecu giving you?

          hi people right so far:

i tried a expert in transmissions
he told me a filter in the box could be causing this... is this true?

also he said it could be a inhibiter switch but i have since found out the switch only controls starting in d and r otr summut like that

the other thing was he couldnt get it on the diagnostic machine

because the plug was different (in the engine bay, is that right)
also anyone know then shape/size or part number for this filter?

          thanks for any help
